A guard for the football Cardinals from 1921-24, the 260-lb southpaw cast the biggest shadow in baseball with Cleveland in 1925, and backed it up with a 13-8 record. In 1927 he was one of two pro footballers to surrender a homer to Babe Ruth (the other was Ernie Nevers).
