Jackie Hayes

Joe Cronin called second baseman Hayes “the best double play artist in the league.” Hayes and shortstop Luke Appling formed a fine double play combination while Hayes was the White Sox’ regular at second base for much of 1932-37. In 1937 Hayes’s 115 double plays led AL second basemen. He had career highs of 84 RBI in 1936, and .328 average in 1938.
