Jakie May

At the end of his career as an intermittently sore-armed pitcher for second-division clubs, May wound up as a Cubs reliever. His final game came in the 1932 World Series. The Yankees swept the Cubs in four straight, and May was hit hard, taking the loss in Game Four. However, he had the satisfaction of twice striking out Babe Ruth that day, after Ruth had humbled the Cubs with his “called home run” in Game Three.
