Jerry McNertney

McNertney began as a first baseman in the minors in 1958, but converted to catcher starting in 1961 and made the White Sox for 1964 after leading International League catchers in fielding in 1963. A back-up through 1968 (he spent almost all of 1965 on the DL), he was chosen by the Seattle Pilots in the expansion draft and had his only season as a regular in 1969, batting .241 with career highs of eight HR and 55 RBI. He coached for the Yankees in the 1980s.
