Jerry Reed

Trained as a short reliever in the Phillies organization, Reed found success as a Triple-A starter but did his best work in relief for the last-place 1985 Indians (eight saves) and the 1987 Mariners (seven saves). He pitched the first no-hitter in Western Carolina University history. With a career-high 101 2/3 innings 1989, Reed teamed with Mike Jackson to form an effective set-up tandem for closer Mike Schooler. He then bombed in 1990 with a career-high 4.82 ERA.
