Joe Azcue

“The Immortal Azcue” was traded to Cleveland in 1963, just hours before their starting catcher broke his hand. The Cuban was less fortunate when he hit into the ML’s first unassisted triple play in 41 years (July 29, 1968), turned by Washington’s Ron Hansen. He caught no-hitters by Sonny Siebert of the Indians (6/10/66) and Clyde Wright of the Angels (7/3/70) and hit .280 in 1968, his All-Star year. He was a season-long holdout in 1971.
