Jose Santiago

Santiago contributed as a reliever and spot starter to the Red Sox’s “Impossible Dream” of 1967, going 5-0 in September, including two successive victories over second-place Detroit. He finished at 12-4, with five saves. He then became the only pitcher in World Series history to lose a game in which he homered, as the Cardinals defeated the Red Sox, 2-1, in the 1967 opener. Elbow problems in 1968 ended Santiago’s career.
