Josh Devore

An expert bunter and baserunner who was adept at drawing walks, Devore was an effective leadoff man for the Giants’ pennant-winners of 1911 and 1912. In a 21-12 win over the Braves (6/20/12), he stole four bases in one inning, reaching first twice in the ninth and stealing second and third each time. His spectacular catch of a fly ball in deep right center with two men on in Game Three of the 1912 WS preserved a 2-1 victory for the Giants. His last ML appearance was as a WS pinch hitter for the “Miracle Braves” of 1914.
