Junior Spivey

Spivey played sparingly for the Arizona Diamondbacks during the first half of his rookie season in 2001, and replaced slumping second baseman Jay Bell for a short time in August. He established himself as a solid hitter and fielder, making good contact but with little power. Spivey attended Northeastern Oklahoma State University on a basketball scholarship before transferring to community college and making the baseball team as a walk-on.
