Keith Atherton

It took a switch from starting to relief in his sixth year as an A’s farmhand to get Atherton to Oakland. With the fastball his only good pitch, he was often touched for home runs. Traded to Minnesota in May 1986, he went 0-7 in August but saved 10 on the season, then was a set-up man for Jeff Reardon and the 1987 World Champions.
