Canadian reliever MacKenzie saw his only significant action with the expansion Mets, and he was the only pitcher on their 1962 staff to post a winning record (5-4). The Yale graduate once pointed out to manager Casey Stengel that he was the lowest-paid member of his graduating class; Stengel replied that MacKenzie had the highest ERA.
