Culberson had his highest BA in 1946 (.313) with the Red Sox. In that year’s World Series, filling in for Dom DiMaggio, Culberson scooped up Harry Walker’s single and threw it in to shortstop Johnny Pesky. When Pesky paused, Cardinal Enos Slaughter completed his dash home from first with the Series-winning run.
