Mike Dunne

Dunne was the Cardinals’ first draft choice in June 1984 and a member of the ’84 U.S. Olympic baseball team, but was sent to Pittsburgh in the Tony Pena deal. TSN’s NL Rookie Pitcher of the Year in 1987, Dunne led the Senior Circuit in winning percentage (.684), had the league’s second-best ERA (3.03), and led all rookies with 13 wins. After a respectable sophomore campaign (7-11, 3.92) he was unable to recapture his early success. Traded to Seattle in April 1989 for shortstop Rey Quinones, he went just 2-9 in 15 starts.
