Shannon is the publisher and editor of Spitball, a quarterly literary magazine devoted to baseball. Founded in 1981, its focus is on original poetry, but short stories, literary interviews, and book reviews are also featured. Shannon also wrote Diamond Classics (1989), essays on the 100 best baseball books.
