Nippy Jones

In his final ML appearance of a career plagued by back problems, Jones batted in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game Four of the 1957 WS, with his Braves trailing the Yankees 5-4. After appearing to have avoided a wild Tommy Byrne‘s pitch, Jones successfully argued that the pitch had struck his foot by pointing to a polish smudge on the ball. He took first base and the Braves rallied for three runs to win the game.
