Norm Siebern

Though Siebern won a Gold Glove as an outfielder in 1958, his defensive miscues made him the goat of the Yankees’ 3-0 Game Four loss to the Braves in the 1958 World Series. Playing in left, Yankee Stadium’s difficult sun field, Siebern lost track of two fly balls in the sixth and seventh innings, setting up all three of Milwaukee’s runs. After being TSN’s 1957 Minor League Player of the Year and hitting .300 as a rookie, Siebern went to Kansas City in the 1959 deal that brought Roger Maris to New York. The three-time All-Star first baseman reached career highs of 25 HR, 114 runs, 117 RBI, 110 walks, and a .308 batting average for the 1962 A’s.
