Ron Schueler

As an Atlanta farmhand, the 6’4″ Schueler threw a no-hitter for Shreveport (Texas League) on September 7, 1970. He went 11-16 in his busiest season as a starter, with the 1974 Phillies, then spent most of his career in long relief. He was on the White Sox staff in June 1979 when pitching coach Freddie Martin died; just 31 years old, Schueler retired as a player and took Martin’s place. He joined Oakland’s coaching staff for 1983.
