Terry Tata

Tata, the stepson of former NL umpire Augie Guglielmo, was involved in an unusual incident in 1987, a season of many protests about “scuffed” baseballs. On July 6, Cub manager Gene Michael became so upset with Giants pitcher Mike Krukow that he flung six allegedly scuffed balls in front of Tata, who was behind the plate. Instead of getting Krukow in trouble, Michael got himself sent to the showers by Tata.
