A brash, hard-nosed player in the old mold, Hulett was not afraid of anyone. In one game he was berated by Tom Seaver for making an error at second base. Unintimidated, Hulett blasted Seaver in no uncertain terms. He played regularly at second and third with the White Sox in 1985-86, hitting 17 homers in ’86, but he slumped in June 1987 and lost his job. After a year in Double-A, Hulett caught on with Baltimore, where he spent seven seasons as a utility infielder.
