The younger brother and teammate of Lindy McDaniel, Von was an 18-year-old phenom in 1957. He shut out the Dodgers 2-0 in his first ML start June 26, allowing only two infield hits, and one-hit the Pirates July 28. A sore shoulder ended his career the following year.
