Wes Covington

A notorious time-waster at the plate, Covington used an unorthodox batting stance. The lefthanded hitter, who never had more than 373 at-bats in a season, hit 21 homers for the World Champion 1957 Braves and 24 HR (while batting .330) in 90 games in 1958. Although not highly regarded as an outfielder, Covington made two outstanding catches in the 1957 WS. In 1961, he played for four ML teams. He had a .320 pinch-hitting average for the 1963 Phils, batting .303 overall.
