The National Baseball Hall of Fame Committee on Negro Baseball Leagues was formed on June 10, 1971. To be considered for election, a player had to have played at least ten years in the pre-1946 Negro Leagues and/or Major League Baseball and was not eligible for BBWAA selection. The nine-member committee elected one new member from the Negro Leagues each year between 1971 and 1977. The committee was dissolved and voting was taken on by the Veterans Committee.
