The 5’9″ Venezuelan batted .265 as a reserve second baseman with the NL Champion Reds of 1961. In Game Two of that World Series, Chacon hit a key bloop single off the Yankees Ralph Terry, and scored the winning run in the Reds’ only victory. In 1962 Chacon was the shortstop for the original Mets.
