Jimmy Outlaw

A 5’8″ contact hitter, Outlaw first arrived as a Reds third baseman in 1937, but saw regular major league action only as a wartime Tiger outfielder. He batted .273 with a career-high 57 RBI for Detroit in 1944. Though he played just 21 games at 3B in 1945, he started all seven World Series games there so that slugger Hank Greenberg, just back from the war, could play left field.
