Cesar Gutierrez

The quintessential “good field, no hit” shortstop, Gutierrez nevertheless made baseball history with his bat. In the second game of a June 21, 1970 doubleheader, he had six singles and a double in seven at-bats in a 12-inning game to set the AL record (and tie the ML mark) for hits in a game without making an out. But 1970 was the Venezuelan’s only season as a regular; he hit a career-high .243 and led AL shortstops in errors.
