Doc Edwards

The ex-Navy medic applied solid defensive skills as a backup catcher in the bigs, followed by a career as a coach with the Phillies and Indians and as a minor league manager. Edwards’s 1981 Charleston Charlies played Pawtucket in a 33-inning marathon, the longest game in professional history. He replaced Pat Corrales as the Indians’ manager in July 1987 and was dismissed in September 1989.
