Nicknamed Mickey because of his remarkable resemblance to Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane, Grasso homered for Trenton in 1941 in his first at-bat in organized baseball. A former WWII prisoner of the Germans in North Africa, he batted .287 as a part-time catcher with the Senators in 1950.
