Widmar pitched pro ball for 17 years. Solely a reliever for the 1948 Browns, he spent 1949 winning 22 games in the International League and returned to St. Louis as a starter, going 11-24 in 1950-51. He became a minor league manager and a pitching coach for several ML clubs.
