A three-sport star as an Ohio schoolboy, Renick broke in with the Twins by hitting a home run in his first ML at-bat, July 11, 1968. A useful utility man with occasional power over the next two seasons, Renick suffered a knee injury in 1971 that limited him to 27 games. Although he returned in 1972, he could hit only .172.
