Dusty Boggess

Boggess spent 21 years in the minors, 16 as an infielder and catcher. His nickname stemmed both from his dusty red hair and his habit of scooping up dirt while he batted. A NL umpire for 18 years, he kept a souvenir ball autographed by every umpire he’d worked with. It was buried with him, as specified in his will.
