Bill Krueger

A 6’5″ basketball player at Portland (Oregon) University, Krueger did not begin pitching until his junior year. He joined the A’s rotation in 1983 and was 6-5 on June 25 when he strained a forearm muscle; scouts said he lost his best stuff with the injury. Traded to the Dodgers in 1987, he threw a seven-inning no-hitter for Triple-A Albuquerque against Phoenix that August 14. Krueger bounced from the Dodgers to the Brewers, Mariners, Twins, Expos, Tigers, and Padres over the next eight seasons, pitching both as a starter and out of the pen.
