This courageous southpaw was a natural righthander who contracted polio as a child. Though one arm was shorter than the other, Daley taught himself to throw lefthanded. A starter for the A’s, he won 16 in both 1959 and ’60, but mostly relieved with Cleveland and New York. Daley’s specialties were a roundhouse curve and a knuckler.
