Cesar Geronimo

Geronimo, the outstanding defensive centerfielder of five divisional champions and the 1975-76 World Champion Reds teams, was first signed by the Yankees, who briefly tried to make a pitcher out of him. The lefthanded Dominican made his ML debut with Houston, and went to Cincinnati in the November 1971 deal that also moved Joe Morgan to the Reds. Geronimo was the 3,000th strikeout victim of both Bob Gibson and Nolan Ryan. “I was just in the right place at the right time,” he joked.
