Clarence Gaston

San Diego took Gaston from the Braves in the 1968 expansion draft. In his 1970 All-Star season, he hit .318 with 29 HR and 93 RBI. The 6’3″ Texan returned to Atlanta in 1975 as a backup and became a Blue Jays coach in 1982. Named Toronto’s manager in mid-1989, he turned the team around and became the first black manager in post-season play.
