Dave Anderson

A bad back hindered Anderson’s quest for the Dodgers’ starting shortstop job after he was voted the Pacific Coast League‘s top prospect at Albuquerque. While he didn’t continue the Pee Wee ReeseMaury Wills, and Bill Russell legacy as an everyday player, Anderson became a valuable utility man. He contributed significantly in the Dodgers’ 1988 World Championship season by filling in for injured regular Alfredo Griffin. Anderson signed with the Giants as a free agent in 1990, but returned to the Dodgers for what proved to be his last major-league season in 1992.
