Dick Donovan

A late bloomer, the 6’3″ Donovan didn’t win a game in four short ML trials with the Braves and Tigers. Traded to the White Sox in 1955, his mastery of the slider made him a 15-game winner. His .727 winning percentage (16-6) led the AL in 1957. With the expansion Senators, his 2.40 ERA was the league low in 1961, but Washington sent him to the Indians in an October trade for Jimmy Piersall. Donovan went 20-10 for Cleveland in 1962, his last winning season.
