Duane was the son of Tiger pitcher Herman Pillette. Duane lost to Chicago 2-1 in the last game the Browns played in St. Louis (9/27/53). He moved with the franchise to Baltimore and recorded the Orioles’ first win in 1954. He never had a winning season; in 1951 he tied for the AL lead with 14 losses.
