Eddie Smith

One of those pitchers fated to spend their careers with floundering teams, the portly Smith was the losing pitcher in Bob Feller‘s 1-0 Opening Day no-hitter against the White Sox in 1940. Smith had his only winning ML season that year, going 14-9 for Chicago. In 1942, when he led the AL with 20 losses, his defeats included a 2-0, two 2-1, and three 1-0 games.
