Ernie Padgett

Padgett came up for four games with the Braves in 1923. Playing shortstop that October 6, he made an unassisted triple play; he caught a line drive hit by the Phillies Walter Holke, stepped on second to double up Cotton Tierney, and tagged Cliff Lee off first base.

Padgett was the Braves’ regular third baseman in 1924 and hit .255 with his lone home run, and reached career highs of 25 doubles, 42 runs, and 46 RBI in 502 at-bats. The rest of his career was spent as a utility man.
