Frank Killen

Pittsburgh workhorse Killen won 34 games in 1893, his first year with the Pirates. Connie Mack, Killen’s manager and batterymate, said the primary reason the Pirates did not win the 1895 pennant was that Killen was injured. The hurler came back strong in 1896, leading the NL in games, starts, complete games, and innings pitched, and winning 29 games in his last big season. A lifetime .241 hitter, he had 11 home runs in 998 at-bats.
