The clean-shaven Metkovich was nicknamed by Casey Stengel when he injured himself trying to pull a hook from a catfish. The Ted Williams look-alike played outfield for the Red Sox while Williams was fighting WWII, and Metkovich batted .277 with a 25-game hitting streak in 1944.
