Greg Booker

A 6’6″ reliever, Booker shuttled between San Diego and Las Vegas (Pacific Coast League) from 1983 to 1986 before finally spending full seasons with the Padres in 1987 and 1988. Originally drafted as a first baseman, he switched to pitching full-time in his second pro season (1982) and led the California League in losses, walks, and wild pitches. He still reached the ML at the tail end of the 1983 season, and in 1984 he pitched one inning in Game Three of the WS, walking four batters. Booker’s father-in-law is Padres manager Jack McKeon.
