Joe Stripp

A hustling, hard-hitting third baseman/first baseman, Stripp batted .300 six times as a regular. After he hit a career-high .324 in 1931, the Reds sent him in a three-for-three swap to the Dodgers. He was an annual holdout, always trying to negotiate a better contract. While still playing, he opened Jersey Joe Stripp’s Baseball School in Orlando, FL, a development school for Depression-era boys who wanted to make a living playing baseball.
