John Briggs

Perennial prospect John Briggs was a fast, well-built, lefthanded-hitting outfielder. Because of the rules regarding bonus players when he signed, Briggs spent only one season in the low minors, and then was retained by the Phillies in 1964. He only once hit over .270, and didn’t play regularly until his trade to Milwaukee, where he hit a career-high 21 homers in 1971 and 1972.
