Johnny O’Brien

Twin bothers Johnny and Eddie O’Brien came up together with the 1953 Pirates, with Johnny the second baseman of the family double-play combination. They each played in 89 games that season, each spent the following season in the military, and came back up in 1955. They both tried pitching; Johnny was both the bettter pitcher (although his record was worse) and hitter (.299 in 1955). He was an All-American at Seattle University.
