Marcus Giles

The younger brother of Pirates slugger Brian Giles, Marcus shot through the Atlanta Braves system and posted a .262 average with nine home runs and 31 RBIs in his rookie campaign. He took over the Braves’ second base job in July 2001 after Quilvio Veras was released and never relinquished it, thanks to a clutch bat with surprising pop. Defensively, he showed solid hands but little range at second base.
