Rafael Belliard

A fine-fielding shortstop, Belliard became Pittsburgh’s starter midway through the 1986 season and hit a career-high .233. Returning to the Pirates in 1987 after being sent down midway through the season, he suffered a fractured left fibula, a recurrence of an injury he suffered twice in 1984. When Jose Lind slumped in 1989, Belliard won the second base job in the second half of the season.
