Ray Collins

A lefty with excellent control, Collins was 19-8 for the 1913 Red Sox and 20-13 the next year. Ty Cobb said Collins gave him as much trouble as any pitcher he ever faced, and, on occasion, Collins was said to have walked a batter intentionally to pitch to Cobb.

Collins must have liked Detroit, for he had doubleheader complete games against the Tigers on September 22, 1914, winning 5-3 and 5-0. A graduate of the University of Vermont, he later returned there as a baseball coach.
