Keating was one of the pitchers allowed to continue throwing the spitball after it was banned in 1919. The amnesty did Keating no good, as he was dropped by the Braves before the 1920 season. He kept throwing his pet pitch in the Pacific Coast League, using it successfully until he retired in 1932.
