Socks Seibold

After ten games as a 19-year-old infielder with the A’s in 1915, Seibold was converted to the mound in the minors, and he returned as a pitcher the next year. Eventually, he went back to the minors with a sore arm. Twice during the 1920s he retired, once for four years. Rejuvenated in 1929, he became a regular starter for the Braves, a chronic second-division club. His best season was 1930, when he was 15-16.
